Transatlantic fanboy showdown.

We have no idea what the point of the following is, except to indulge our own impulses in playing with Photoshop. For our money, "Death Proof" is the better film, and "Hot Fuzz" is the more enjoyable, though we're guessing "Hot Fuzz" isn't going to fare any better than "Grindhouse" at the box office — fanboy culture may be all-powerful, but it's not quite ruling the world yet... well, maybe on DVD. A point-by-point comparison (with mild spoilers):

Showdown.

Duly noted, you charmer, you. You've saved Christmas!

Also, in Death Proof the girls have things from the Acuna Boys Restaurant... the Acuna Boys were the mob run by Esteban Vihaio in Kill Bill... and the foot massage comments. Some of my favorite self-references in there...

I think a better guilty laugh inducing moment is Hot Fuzz is probably when the vicar gets shot and shouts "Jesus Christ!"

"Duly noted, you charmer, you. You've saved Christmas!"

Best comeback to a ridiculously inappropriate and rude post ever.

This is how interesting Death Proof was: I fell asleep during the ultra-boring dialogue among the first three women. I woke up and didn't even notice a different trio of women was spouting the same boring dialogue. More importantly...I didn't care!!
Hot Fuzz will easily fare better than Grindhouse at the box office.

The Red Apple cigarettes are not in Death Proof. I was suprised as well, in Death Proof they smoke some indian brand. In Planet Terror El Wray smokes Red Apples.

What about the tasty beverage reference in Death Proof?

The Red Apple Cigarettes and the Kill Bill list were Planet Terror, not Death Proof. For shame!

Don't forget the appearances of Michael and James Parks. Both played father and son Texas Rangers in both Death Proof and in Kill Bill Vol. 1, as they investigate the massacre in the church. Michael Parks also played Earl McGraw in From Dusk Till Dawn (where he appeared to be killed off?!?!?), while James Parks also played Edgar McGraw in From Dusk Till Dawn 2, with Rodriguez and Tarantino both credited as Executive Producers. I guess the scene between the senior Parks and Marley Shelton meant that the first half of Death Proof happened first, followed however much later with the events in Planet Terror.
